Gonzalo Plata Back to Flamengo: The Return of the Ecuadorian

After a frustrating transfer to Dínamo Moscow, Gonzalo Plata is already back at Flamengo and training with the squad! The Ecuadorian forward arrived in Belém, where Flamengo is playing this weekend. And to kick things off well, the team beat Remo by 1 to 0, taking the lead in the Brasileirão.

Training and Preparation

Right the next morning after arriving, Plata joined the team for training in Pará. The focus now is on preparing for the match against Independiente del Valle next Thursday, for the Libertadores quarterfinals in Quito.

The coaching staff is still unsure whether he will travel with the team to Ecuador. Leonardo Jardim commented on Plata’s return, saying:

"If he’s in physical condition... We still have four days until the game, so we’ll decide that a bit later."

An Unplanned Return

The player’s return from Russia ended up taking longer than expected. The expectation was that he would arrive in Brazil on Friday or Saturday, but he ended up posting a photo of himself dining in Dubai on Saturday. Can you imagine the plot?

On his social media, Plata commented on Dínamo Moscow’s withdrawal. He said he handled the entire process "with total professionalism" and that this kind of outcome is part of football.

Focused on Flamengo

And to make it clear, the forward has no plans to look for another club in this transfer window. He stated:

"Today, my focus is once again on Flamengo. I am 100% focused, prepared, and committed to the club, my teammates, and the goals we have ahead."

It’s also worth noting that the transfer fell apart after he went through medical exams at Dínamo. The Russian club decided to back out on his signing and on Matheus Martins’s from Botafogo, without offering many explanations. That decision left Flamengo somewhat annoyed.

And now, all that’s left is to wait and see what this new phase of Gonzalo Plata at the Mengão will look like! Let’s keep watching!
