Grêmio Announces the Return of Renato Gaúcho!
Today is a day of great news for Gremio supporters! Gremio has confirmed the hiring of coach Renato Gaucho. The contract runs until December, marking the end of the season.
The Return of the Idol
Renato is already a longtime familiar figure at the club: this is his fifth stint as coach of Gremio. To refresh your memory, he was the one responsible for taking the team to win the Libertadores of 2017. Now, his mission is clear: keep Gremio out of the relegation fight and lead the team through this final stretch of the season.
"Gremio doesn’t call me. Gremio summons me." – Renato Gaucho
That’s it, Renato! It’s time to relive the glories together again. Welcome back to your home!
Changes in Charge
Renato was chosen from three names that the board evaluated to replace Luis Castro, who was dismissed last Sunday (13) after a loss to Vasco in the Brasileirão. The other candidates were Roger Machado and Luis Zubeldía.
The Tricolor’s Situation
Currently, Gremio sits in the 15th place in the table, with 28 points, tied with Vasco, which is the first team in the relegation zone. And to make matters worse, the Tricolor still hasn’t managed a win away from home in this competition.
In addition to the challenge in the Brasileirão, Gremio is also competing in the Copa do Brasil, where it has already reached the semifinals and will face Atlético-MG.
Let’s hope Renato brings new energy and helps Gremio get back on track!
