Palmeiras’ Logistics Changes to Face LDU in the Libertadores

Palmeiras is going through a restructuring of its logistics for the big decision against LDU in the Copa Libertadores, especially after that painful loss of 3 to 0 the last time they were on the pitch in Quito, in last year’s semifinal. This includes how the thin air can affect the execution of passes and shots. The goal here is to minimize the impact of altitude on the players’ performance when they step onto the field for the decisive match. And to increase the chances of a good result, the team will do one more training session before the big game.

Players’ Health Monitoring

In addition, Palmeiras’ Health and Performance Center will keep an eye on the athletes’ health. They will carry out biochemical and hematological monitoring to ensure everyone is at the ideal levels to play at altitude. This is crucial, especially regarding oxygen transport in the body. The medical team will analyze red blood cells and iron levels to identify whether anyone needs a quick adjustment.

Results at Altitude

Speaking of experience, since 2020 Palmeiras has already racked up six wins in matches at altitude, including one in this Libertadores edition against Sporting Cristal. The only exceptions were the loss to Bolívar in 2023, when coach Abel decided to rest the starters for the Paulistão, and the defeat to LDU in last year’s semifinal.
