Santos in Action in Lawsuit Against Sponsor

Santos is back in court, and it’s not the first time! This time, the club is demanding R$ 476 thousand from EQR Capital, which sponsored the alvinegro between July of last year and July of this year.

Case History

This is not the first lawsuit Santos has filed against sponsors. The club had already brought a claim against Tial, the company responsible for the “Pley by Ney” juice, which is a partnership with Neymar himself. Initially, the debt was R$ 1,7 million, but the club confirmed that this amount was paid on August 28, although the lawsuit is still ongoing.

And the Relationship with Neymar?

Although EQR has no direct relationship with Neymar, it was introduced to the club by two major names: Falcão, a former futsal player and brand ambassador, and Bruno Avelar, an entrepreneur and digital influencer closely connected to the attacker’s family. Avelar is not only an influential figure; he also served as the intermediary in a R$ 5 million contract and earned a commission of R$ 500 thousand in that deal. He’s so close to Neymar that he has even introduced a charitable auction by the Instituto Neymar Jr.

What’s Going On?

Amid this mess, Santos claimed that EQR did not pay the final installment of R$ 450 thousand, which was due in January of this year. The good news is that talks are already underway between the two parties to resolve the outstanding amount.

Now, it’s important to mention that EQR is not in good shape. The sponsor has been dealing with a number of financial problems, including investigations and a series of lawsuits, with an accusation of involvement in a pyramid scheme. A delicate situation, isn’t it?

In short, the saga between Santos and its sponsors continues!
