São Paulo FC: Updates on Olten Ayres and Harry Massis Júnior

Recently, there has been a turnaround at São Paulo, and it seems that things are calmer there now. The club president, Harry Massis Júnior, decided to withdraw the representation that could lead to the removal of Olten Ayres de Abreu Júnior, the president of the Deliberative Council. Oh, and he also asked that the case be shelved with the club’s Ethics Commission.

Formal Withdrawal

The UOL website gained access to the request that was filed last Friday (18) and includes Massis’s signature. In it, the president makes it clear that he is withdrawing the representation against Olten, asking that the case be shelved without moving forward.

Now, responsibility passes to the Ethics Commission, which will review this request and decide how the internal procedure will be handled.

The Context of the Representation

The representation was tied to an investigation involving Olten Ayres for alleged falsification of records. In July, the Civil Police even charged him, but, as UOL revealed this week, the Public Prosecutor’s Office decided to archive the inquiry.

This investigation began due to a document connected to a proposal to change São Paulo’s Bylaws, something that could open possibilities for the creation of a Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF). While the Civil Police saw signs of irregularities, the Public Prosecutor’s Office found no grounds to continue the case. Olten, in turn, has always denied any involvement in inappropriate acts.
