Atlético-MG ends contract with sponsor H2Bet
This last Saturday (3), Atlético-MG announced that it is giving a little goodbye to its master sponsor, H2Bet. The reason? The new provisional measure that banned betting houses in Brazil.
The impact of the government measure
With this decision by the Federal Government, many Brazilian teams are following the Galo’s example and ending partnerships with betting companies. To give you an idea, companies have until next Monday (5) to take their ads down here, including those brands that appear on the clubs’ shirts.
H2Bet’s reaction
In a statement that was shared on Atlético-MG’s social media, H2Bet bid farewell by thanking for the moments shared, and also left a very poetic message: “what we write stays in history”.
What else is going on?
Before the Galo took this route, Santos was the pioneer. The team broke the contract with Novibet and took the field without a master sponsor in the derby against São Paulo. A real “clean shirt” strategy.
In addition, Atlético-MG is not alone in this. The club was not part of the 17 teams that decided to appeal to the STF against this betting prohibition in Brazil. They filed a petition with Minister Luiz Fux asking to suspend this measure.
