Farewell to a Star Player: The Sad Farewell of Carlos Alberto Dias

With a heavy heart, we bring the news of the passing of Carlos Alberto Dias, a former player who made history at clubs such as Botafogo, Vasco, and Grêmio. He left us this Monday (5), at 59 years old.

A Goal That Marked an Era

Carlos Alberto will forever be etched in the memories of Botafogo fans, especially for the famous goal that sealed the 1990 state championship for Botafogo. In the thrilling final against Vasco, he scored the only goal of the match, securing the title for the Glorioso. A memory that will certainly be treasured with affection by supporters.

The Last Struggle

The confirmation of Carlos Alberto’s death came from Ypiranga-PE, the club he managed as a coach. Last Saturday (3), he began showing a concerning series of symptoms, including fatigue, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. After being treated at the UPA in Santa Cruz do Capibaribe, it seemed he was recovering, but during Sunday night, his health problems worsened.

Unfortunately, he returned to the UPA with chest pains and, after being transferred to the Hospital Mestre Vitalino in Caruaru, he was unable to withstand it.

An Unforgettable Legacy

Carlos Alberto’s journey on the field goes far beyond his goals. He left behind a legacy of passion for football and devoted his life to training and inspiring new talent. There is no doubt that his mark on the history of Brazilian sports will be remembered forever.

In this moment of pain, our condolences go out to his family, friends, and all the fans who admired this great player. Rest in peace, Carlos Alberto.
