Changes in the World of Gambling: Sites Offline!

What’s Going On?

Guys, we need to talk about the betting houses that have been booming in Brazil. Or rather, that had been! Recently, all the websites of these platforms were taken down. The decision came fast and hard, following a Provisional Measure that President Lula signed. He issued an ultimatum: by the 23h59 of this Monday, all betting had to be off the internet and so did their advertisements.

And what happened? Well, since no injunction was issued by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to block the MP, the betting houses had to comply. But don’t worry, because this could change at any time! Minister Luiz Fux is holding the “hot potato” and may decide something in the coming days.

Immediate Consequences

With the websites shut down, some brands that were sponsoring the Brasileirão clubs—such as Betano and Sportingbet—literally stepped off the field. The situation is so serious that, when you try to access the sites, you’re redirected to a government page that says:

"Access blocked. The betting platform you tried to access is offline due to Provisional Measure No. 1.394/26, which prohibits sports betting and online casinos in Brazil since 25 of September 2026."

And it doesn’t stop there! The page also says that anyone who had a balance at the betting houses can recover it. The government states:

"If you were unable to withdraw by this date, the banks that operate with bet platforms will return your balance between 9 and 14 of October 2026, automatically."

Betting Updates

Betano

The notice from Betano is very straightforward:

"Service unavailable. Due to Provisional Measure 1394/2026, we were required to take this site offline. You can check more details here."

KTO

KTO also joined the fray and posted the following message:

"KTO is unavailable. In compliance with Provisional Measure No. 1.394/2026, we are unable to operate and, therefore, our platform is unavailable. We truly appreciate your understanding. If you have any questions, just contact us via email at [email protected]."

Next Steps

Wednesday will mark the first round of the Brasileirão without these betting houses, unless something changes at the STF. And, of course, the debate over this Provisional Measure hasn’t ended. A joint committee of senators and representatives will discuss the text of the MP, but that won’t happen anytime soon. The MP will only receive an urgent procedure on 9 of November.

So that’s it, folks! Keep an eye out, because any new development could quickly change the betting scenario in Brazil.
