Agreement in the Bagaça: São Paulo and Novorizontino Close Deal on Debt
So, folks! Let’s talk about another football saga, shall we? This time, the story revolves around São Paulo and Novorizontino, who were in a tangle over a debt related to the negotiation for the midfielder Djhordney.
The Agreement and the Transfer Ban Suspense
So, the CBF’s fair play agency got wind of the deal between the two clubs, and as a result, the complaint that was hanging over the tricolor was put on stand by. And what does that mean? For now, the threat of a transfer ban has been averted. Pretty, right?
The National Agency for Regulation and Sustainability of Football (Anresf) received notification that the parties had reached an understanding. With that, the issue is put on hold until they settle the debt, whose last installment is due in December.
Repricing and a Turn in the Situation
It’s important to note that, according to Anresf, this agreement "does not actually clear the debt," but rather restructures the payment terms. Originally, São Paulo committed to paying five installments of R$ 200 thousand for the player’s signing, but... no payments so far! And that’s how everything ended up with Anresf.
With this new restructuring, the process will be suspended until 23 of January of 2027, which is 45 days after the due date of the last installment. If São Paulo honors everything that was agreed, the case will be finished.
What Comes Next?
São Paulo will have to prove the payments, and it will be Novorizontino’s responsibility to confirm that it received the money. Anresf made clear in a statement that, as long as the agreement is being followed, the restructured debt will not be treated as a late payment.
However, if São Paulo fails and does not pay, the process will be reactivated by the Technical Unit of Anresf.
We’ll stay tuned to see how this story unfolds! That’s it, folks, and until next time!
