Jorginho and the World Title: A Memorable Achievement!

Midfielder Jorginho, currently playing for Flamengo, made some very interesting statements about his journey and the conquest of the Club World Cup of 2021, which happened when he was with Chelsea. And guess what? The title had an even more special taste because it was against Palmeiras!

The Sweetness of Victory

Jorginho shared that this trophy was especially meaningful to him, considering that he had already been rejected in tests by Palmeiras. In the match, he was a substitute during the thrilling win by 2 to the 1, which even went to extra time, but he didn’t come on.

“It had an extra flavor because they shut the doors on me back then. It didn’t work out. After everything you go through, you leave a small town, you get there, you run into a team you tried for and it didn’t work out—and you win...” – Jorginho, on The Noite.

Provoking Palmeiras

And the player didn’t stop there! He even threw a little jab at Palmeiras. When asked whether the team from São Paulo had won the World Cup, Jorginho was direct:

“As far as I know, no.”

Chelsea’s Perspective

About the Club World Cup, Jorginho said that the old format, now known as the Intercontinental Cup, isn’t taken as seriously by people in Europe. He also revealed some behind-the-scenes details from the Chelsea camp ahead of their match against Palmeiras.

“It’s true. They consider the Champions League more important. Tuchel, who was the Chelsea coach, showed some videos of Palmeiras’ bus leaving, the celebration... He tried to convey the importance of that title in Brazil and how Palmeiras would arrive.” – Jorginho.

After his time at Chelsea through 2023, Jorginho transferred to Arsenal and signed with Flamengo in 2025. And his journey continues! At Flamengo, he already won the Libertadores title against Palmeiras last year.

Final Considerations

Jorginho’s journey is truly inspiring. He turned challenges into achievements, and his story in football serves as motivation for many. Now, the hope is that he keeps shining and bringing more victories to Flamengo!
